Topic: Monkey Blend for brewed coffee? (8 msgs / 160 lines)
1) From: Brian Kamnetz
Hi,
Does anyone use Monkey Blend for brewed coffee? I see Tom describes
characteristics for Vienna roast; any recommendations for roast level for
brewed coffee?
Thanks,
Brian

I've tried it and the Liquid Amber, but they aren't a favorite of mine. =
However, I do like the Puro Scuro as both espresso and Americanos/press =
pot. I roast to Full City+ or Vienna. Dan

I think it really is meant for the darker roasts. Tried it as regular coffe=
e after two days while waiting to use it as espresso and found that it was =
OK as coffee but not a favorite.

I have had it (in my Moka pot, as an Americano - been told that my version
is a STRONG cup by others not as devoted to the bean as I am). I loved it.
I'm rather unscientific in my roasting - never roasted close to Vienna (that
doesn't appeal to me), but I believe the first time I roasted it a bit more
than afterwards. Maybe a FC+, then FC next time, but I can't be sure. I
LOVED it & was sad when it was gone. : > {.

Actually I have done a total of 2# of Monkey brewed all of it and LOVED
IT!!! it has good body and good flavor.
I have only had 1 shot of the monkey and that was great too... the only
reason I haven't gotten more is that there are too many great coffees I
have yet to try

I like it brewed in my drip coffee maker (Cuisinart DCC-1200 "Brew
Central"). I'll use the same Full City + / Vienna range that I do
for espresso. But, especially if I'm end up a little on the light
side of the roast, I'll make sure I do a pot of Monkey.

We use Monkey blend for everything....Brew, FP, Espresso, and Moka (well,
that's pretty much everything that we do...not everything that everyone else
does.) It's great.
