We used to have one place nearby that made homemade kielbasa (going back way
too many years than I want to admit). Recently, the area has had a lot of
Russian immigrants, and I purchased some kielbasa from them, but it wasn't
all that good. There is one place I've heard about that has been around
forever, and has all kinds of {homemade) sausages: German, Polish, etc. - I
still haven't been there - yet.
My family just ended up eating Hillshire, but w/the fat & salt... I seldom
have any these days.
I can, however, make a terrific babka on holidays. Mmm - melts in your mouth
with a great cup of coffee. Italian version is the panettone - but I'd take
a good babka anyday. (I learned how to make that when I was a teenager - and
that made my Dad very happy - he hadn't had any since his mother passed
away).
I tried to ask about that in our local Russian grocery store, but they
didn't know what I was talking about.
