Topic: Chaff canister for TO convection roasters (7 msgs / 65 lines)

Just added a canister (AKA large salt shaker) for chaff collection to my
BM/TO. Not sure how others with SC/UFO/TO are collecting their chaff
but this application may be adaptable It also works as a great aroma vent.
Collects 99% of the chaff.

Ed, that's one of the most impressive-looking TO roasters I've ever seen! Not only am I amazed with the 'convenience' features (wood trim, pivot rod, slide-out cooling tray, etc.) but it's darn functional and self-contained. An outstanding great leap forward from my TO/SC setup...brilliant work.

Ed,
Nice job. What did you use to cut the stainless?

Ed,
The quality of the workmanship on your project is impressive. I try to pick
up these little hints as much as possible. Thanks.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
work is blocking pics i think. do you have a hole cut on the side of the
ring, or did you use screws to create a vent of overlapping metal? i have
overlapped opening with a vent.. it works great at getting out chaff, but
other than making something out of screen, i havent figured a way to make a
collector. perhaps your way is the answer!

Leo My roaster is slightly different than a typical SC/UFO/TO but from
what I've seen
my application would be adaptable. Attached to springform. Check out the
pics on my blog site when you can.
Then will try to help more if I can. Edhttp://coffee-roasting.blogspot.com/
