I placed an order last night, picking up the Mexico Organic Nayarit Terruno
people have been raving about, the 8-pack sampler, and just for kicks, the
Peru Norte Especial. I was curious about the Peru. Anybody tried it? What
do I have to look forward to? Any suggestions for it?
I hope Harvey doesn't feel neglected; I picked up some valve bags and a
filter cone so Brown's bringing it instead. ;) Next time, Harvey!
I'm already hopping up and down waiting for it...*grin*

Haven't tried this year's Peru Norte. FWIW here's Jim's cupping notes from a
5 way roast exchange of Peru Norte we did in '04, each roasted a different
method. It may give you an idea what Peru Norte has to offer.http://tinyurl.com/25fkpdOf course, Tom's reviews always give great information on the bean!

Ultimately the quest for Koffee Nirvana is a solitary path. To know I must
first not know. And in knowing know I know not. Each Personal enlightenment
found exploring the many divergent foot steps of Those who have gone before.

I'll be roasting mine tomorrow. It is one of those great coffees that I
wish Tom could get every year, but he cups what he buys so, we only get the
best not just what has been good in the past. It is the only way to fly!

Silvia,
Harvey just delivered some of this today; he is so fast ... 1.5 days and it
was in my mailbox this morning ... on the other hand, after 3 days, Brown is
still trying to find Mesquite, Texas.
I would be really interested in you posting your thoughts about the cup
after enjoying it.
By the way, to narrow thing down just a bit, your ordering of the Mexico
Organic Nayarit Terruno is the fault of the Kona Kurmudgeon miKe mcKoffee
... such a shill ...

Les,
I haven't been led astray by Tom yet, so I wouldn't have it any other way.
:)
Eddie,
Brown'll be here by the 26th, they say. *twitch twitch* Next time, I'll
happily deal with Harvey (now that I'm getting my non-green needs out of the
way with this order). ;)
I'll let you guys know as soon as I try it. I do have to tell you, now, my
tastes aren't as refined as some; most of my reviews end up being something
like "Man, that's some good coffee!". *grins* Heck, I might just start a
coffee blog specifically for that...all the cool kids seem to be doing it.

that's all you need to know. all the other flavor descriptors (at which
some of our list members are so adept at finding, kudos) are just an
added bonus. as long as the roasts are going well (at least with SM's
greens), "Man, that's some good coffee!". *grins* should be the norm.
your palate will be able to pick up the other stuff with time. till
then, sit back and enjoy the best coffee you've ever had.

I have this one in the stash, but I have not roasted it yet. I have not had
a Peru from Tom that I didn't like! However as Tom has said, there is a lot
of average coffee that comes from Peru. I was sent some, "Organic Peru"
from a friend and it was non-discript. To me a good Peru has some of the
characteristics of a good Central with the smoothness of a Columbia.

I have roasted this once so far. I found it a very good coffee and really
liked it as a capp. Actually was thinking of getting 5 lbs of it in the next
Harvey order.

I just had some this morning.. what was left of a 1/2 pound batch
roasted to City+ in my Hottop. Today was at about 6 days rest, and was
superb!
