Topic: Yellow Bourbon and a surprise. (29 msgs / 520 lines)
1) From: Tom & Maria - Sweet Maria's Coffee
Has anyone tried the Brazil Cachoeira da Grama Yellow Bourbon -
(Special screen-dried lot) that came in a week or two ago?
Brian
I had the chance to cup quite a few lots (mostly pulped natural), as
well as their CoE lot - this screen dried cups much more like a
natural - lots of body, good fruited tone. I would say that it is a
bit more rustic than last years pulped natural lot, and a tad more
than last years screen dry lot too. This is a great time to look into
the offerings of natural brasils, really. I also have special Daterra
Yellow Bourbon coming, but that is a much cleaner (less rustic cup,
not implying dirty taste), a special project where the coffee is
electronically sorted using blacklight (!) and vacuum packaged when
dried to the right mosture content, then boxed and shipped. That's
how we did our Colombia CoE lots (coming very soon).
Okay, I'll bury this little announcement here in this post ...
Brasils aren't the main thing on my mind; Maria gave birth to our
first child on Saturday early AM. Maybe I'll put a little something
in the weblog when we have decided on a name, but we are both pretty
tired and , well, very happy. Considering we are not the youngest
parents out there, and Maria's MS, I have been pretty nervous. But
he's a healthy little guy, and surprisingly placid, content and quiet
(although I am sure that will change ... or could we possibly be one
of the lucky ones?) We are taking our time with the names. Anyway,
just wanted to make a low key announcement to the list...

Congratulations, Tom and Maria!!! That's fantastic! I'm also not the
youngest of (relatively) new mom's, and I have MS as well, so I get your
nervousness, but it's been a great ride so far. Nothing better.
Best to you three!

Toasting you and Maria (with a fresh cup of your coffee) on that new baby
boy Tom!!!
I'm a grandfather now, but sure can relate to your joy. All the best in the
days to come.

Congrats on the kid. Might be quiet now but oh you just wait!! Soon
enough you'll have someone to help you in the office / warehouse heh.
Does this mean we get a cheap blue celophane wrapped "it's a boy" cigar
with each order for the next week :)
I can see it now, some folks kids get wound off the walls on sugar
snacks... your kid is going to bounce off the walls from coffee!! and be
able to name em too....
Again, in all seriousness, congratulations and you take care of both mom
and new son.

Congratulations to you both. Your life will be very different than it was
before; there will be many more opportunites for awe and wonderment.
Since no one seems willing to offer help with the name, may I
suggest.....Yirg.

Our first was at age 30, and our last (of six) was born when my wife and I
were 45. Try not to worry about anything, just enjoy!
I love to suggest names, so if you are wondering what saints are
commemorated on or near the birthdate, just ask. I should mention at least
that by the old calendar Saturday was the Synaxis of St John the Baptist.
By the new calendar it was the day of St Leo the Great, but also Peter the
Customs Inspector of Constantinople - I wonder if he inspected coffee
packages?
God Bless you all!

way to go, Tom & Maria! oh what fun to come! I didn't have my 1st biological
child until 1989, when I was 47. now we have 2, born 2 years & 2 days apart.
no time to get old - only to age with a good cuppa coffee..

Wow! Congratulations on your new son! You both must be on Cloud Nine.
I remember the birth of MY first son 37 years ago; nothing tops that in
my list of Special Events. :-)
I humbly submit the name "Adam" for your consideration. Best wishes to
the three of you! Hope Maria's recovering nicely.

Congratulations on the new family member and oh crap. Now my coffee will
suck. I have a three year old girl named Ella that I am crazy in love
with. If I had your company it would be bankrupt by now because of my love
for spending time with my little bird Ella. I am mostly joking and I am
sure you are creative enough to do both parts of your world well but if not
I will respect your decision to sacrifice the coffee. No new parent wants
advise but every parent wants to give it so here goes my best. Every day
Ella gives me many chances to be a good or bad dad and like most dads I do
most right. The difference between a good and bad dad is not the mistakes I
make but rather my awareness about what is and is not working and my ability
to change my approach to meet her needs. Oh yea and to stay on topic I am
roasting some Nicaragua FTO Lozahoren while typing. yum yum. Jared

I must give a spew alert. Tom said about his little guy, "I have been
pretty nervous. But he's a healthy little guy, and surprisingly placid,
content and quiet." From this we know that he isn't a Robusta! I doubt he
is a Typica because Tom and Maria are such special people. He may drive Tom
and Maria to sip on a little Bourbon to settle the nerves. So my guess is
he is a Pacamaria! Tom will be packing him around Sweet Marias and Maria
will be adored by the little guy as his sweet mommy! Besides we know that
this is a great combination of Tom and Maria, just like the Pacamara bean
which I am enjoying as I type!
