Topic: PID failed cold ambient roasting, profile ran away (30 lines)
1) From: miKe mcKoffee
Roasted a 1/2# Idido Misty Valley earlier this morning using 3:30 slow-fast
start of 1st to end of roast profile (11:30 total time). Profile theory slow
2:30 minutes through 1st (my 400 to 425f) for complete bean City with faster
end stage ramp 1:00 min. to Light FC outer bean (my 445f) finish. Due to
ambient temp in uninsulated garage being a bit nippy 33f my PID and over
compensated applying too much heat at the end stage resulting in roast ran
away a tad to ~450f ~FC outer bean before I shut down the roast. Smell and
post roast bean munch indicate roast should be fine however, maybe even
better than initially planned.
I should mention that my PID is a bit old and not under warranty. Also, PID
in this case stands for Personal Interdependent Directives applied to my
manually controlled FrankenFormer:-)

first not know. And in knowing know I know not. Each Personal enlightenment
found exploring the many divergent foot steps of Those who have gone before.
