Mine, too ... but Bears fans are used to disappointment. Of course, so were
Colts fans until today. Then there are us 49er fans who must live in the
past ... Congrats to all you Hoosiers out there.

Having two quarterbacks but only one at the ready (and using the
backup only when the first one is injured) is like having a
Technivorm and an Aeropress but only using the latter when the former
is broken--or like a basketball team never rotating centers. No
wonder we lost. Remember when the Bears had Jim Mc Mahon, Mike
Tomczak and Doug Flutie--and would use them all in the same game?

Oh, yeah, Sandy, them was the days! Win or lose, those three (especially
McMahon) were fun to watch - unlike today, unfortunately.

Ok, I am also native myself but the name was coincidentally the same as
a neighborhood friend a long long time ago when I lived near west side.

What era are you from? Southwest Houston was anywhere from Sharpstown to
Sugarland in the 30 years I lived there.

JUST MY OPINION....
I think the Bears lost cause they couldn't stop the run, couldn't defend
against the pass, threw to the opposing team, and took 3 quarters to get a
scak. Bears did not come to win the SuperBowl. They did have a couple magic
plays, and got a couple turnovers early that made the game seem like they
were contending. But their time of possession was minimal, first downs
rarely occured, and they looked rather anemic...

Maybe the problem was that they came to win it, but forgot they had to
actually play the game. Two weeks of hype can do wonders to a player's
self-image - not a good thing, usually.
Then again, maybe it was the weather - too warm, no wind, in February.
Football's not a February sport, especially for North Plains / Great Lakes
people.

Grossman is a one-trick pony, who botched the trick. Moreover, the
turning point came when Benson had to leave the game--it demoralized
the defense. Grossman can throw little 5-yard passes or nice long
bombs; but can't run, didn't throw the short passes till too late,
didn't hand off enough; and the problem with bombs is that they can
mis-detonate (i.e., backfire as interceptions). He got the yips as
well, and cannot think fast on his feet. Manning was able to throw
modest and dependable 15-yarders all the way--he stoned the Bears to
death with popcorn (or coffee beans, to keep this on-topic). IMHO,
you need more than one QB with different skill sets, and freely
rotate them as the situation dictates. I blame the GM and OC more
than I do Smith. They've got some heavy thinking to do before the
next draft.
But hey, when was the last time the Bears got this far?
