Topic: Broken Z&D Glass Roasting Vessel (3 msgs / 70 lines)
1) From: Florida Randy
As a newbie I have had nothing but excitement to report on my
experiences in roasting. I was given the Z&D roaster for Christmas and
have kept it busy since that day....until yesterday when I successfully
managed to break the glass vessel while washing it. No matter....how
expensive could a replacement glass vessel be? Until, that is, I
discovered Z&D no longer sells or services the unit and I was referred
to NESCO, the manufacturer. They charge $39.95 plust $6.50 shipping for
the replacement as they will not sell just the glass vessel, but rather
sell only the complete vessel assembly including auger....all of which
is not broken. They do sell just the glass for $14.95 plus $5
shipping....but only after you send the base and handle in for repair.
Needless to say my "habit" won't allow me to wait that long so for now
at least I'l do both. Order the outrageously expensive replacement
assembly AND send the base and handle in for the replacement glass.
I really like this product and have had great results, but this will now
hasten my look for an alternative that won't have the same cost of
ownership. As much of a KLUTZ as I am I'm sure I'd have spent more than
a FR or IR2 before long.
Thanks for letting me vent. I've sent a note off to Nesco asking that
they reconsider.....that and world peace are just around the corner!

Randy,
Please go immediately to a thrift store and buy a hot air popcorn popper,
now - if only as a temporary replacement. If you need, I can send you the
$3 for the cost...
Then go to Tom's Hoe Air Popper Tips page (http://www.sweetmarias.com/airpopmethod.html)to get your habit satisified.
There sis no "Meth" for this type of addiction - you need the real stuff...
Hoping to help in an emergency,
Brett

Brett -
Florence Nightingale would be proud of your prompt and compassionate
advice. If I can stop the tears and my shaking hands I will drive, or
walk if I have to, to my nearest thrift shop. Thanks for the offer of
sending money but I've already re-financed my home to cover any
necessary emergency costs!
