Topic: i-ROAST 2 Chamber Replacement (3 msgs / 69 lines)
1) From: Walter R. Basil
It's about time to write one of those eulogy emails for my IR2's
chamber. I still think there are several weeks left to the current
one, but I would like to order a new one to have ready for when the
time comes. Tom sells the chamber so I would like to order that from
him. I'll also be in need of a new Chaff Collector Lid soon, so I'll
be ordering that straight from Hearthware.
Here's my question: on the Hearthware site, they list 2 separate
chambers for the 1 and 2 models, both with a different part number.
The original is 40010p and the IR2 is 40011p. Which is the model sold
on Sweet Maria's? I would assume it's the 2, but I don't want to
assume before I buy. I left an email question to Sweet Maria's, but I
thought I'd ask here as well. I'm not sure how long it takes for them
to go through and answer their email. I also believe there is a
difference, as Tom writes as part of the upgrades given to the 2nd
generation: "The roasting pot has a knob that slides into the chaff
collector base. The locking mechanism promotes a much higher tighter
seal. The thermoflector has stronger stem that prevents snapping."
BTW, was very happy with the Peru Norte Especial sample (so were my
co-workers), and just ordered another 10#. Just roasted up my pound
of Panama Boquete - Maunier Estate today. Looking forward to that.
TIA
-Walt

Walter,
Derek (and everyone else), at Sweet Maria's is a Dynamo! He almost always
responds within a few days. If you don't get a response within, say a week,
send the email again. They get a lot of email and being fallible like the
rest of us, they may have just missed it.

Well, if you have one of the IRoasts that retain the profiles you put in
when the machine is unplugged, it is an IR2. The IR1 hasn't been sold by
SM for awhile, and every time you unplugged them, they *forgot* the
programming you did yourself. The presets were different, too.
