Has anyone had to replace the thermocouple probe that comes with Sm's =
digital thermometer?. I checked 2 Radio Shacks and the local HSC =
Electronic Supply store without luck and the same result in my online =
searches. If anyone has a source I would appreciate it,
Thanks,

I believe it's a standard K type thermocouple. Do a google search you
should find them easily, or the base units and some TC wire to make your
own.
id give links but am out the door here running late for a meeting

Frank,
You want answers, Forget Radio Shack unless you just want batteries for your
boom box. You might try Sears, Wards, an HVAC shop, or an appliance/ repair
shop.
Meanwhile, you can continue to use the SM thermocouple probe if the plastic
cover just melted off. No effect.
If a wire broke at the measuring tip or the tip broke off, just cut them off
even, strip the wires,
sand lightly with emery cloth to clean up the wires and twist them together
for a couple of turns.
This is your brand new measuring junction, and you're back in business!
