You guys have got to check this out:
From SM's "What's New" page:
3/27: I made a page with some interesting microscopic images of the coffee
seed, and the difference between a healthy bean and a defective bean.

Really cool pics. Tells quite a story as to how the cellular structure of
these beans might affect the way a bean roasts.

Thanks for that.
Maybe, this is why I don't like my batch of Madheling. There are beans that
would fall into the questionable category according those pics, mostly under
the black bean defect.

Larry,
Just curious, did you "happen" to notice the posting or get "notified". My
WatchThatPage email notification came in a minute or two after your post, it
be cool!

Busted. Yeah, it was my WatchThatPage and I just happened to be in email at
the moment it arrived.
Geez, I thought I could wow folks with my eagle-eyed SM watching (I can't
wow anybody in this forum with my coffee knowledge .... yet.)
Oh, well; back to being a sponge.

That link didn't work for me...it just brought me to the homepage.
Here's one that works for me, in case anyone else has the same
problem:http://www.sweetmarias.com/defects_seedstructure/defects_seedstructure.html

Thanks, I had the same problem. I, who LOVES details and information,
appreciates Tom, who caters to this passion. Thanks, Tom.

Hi,
Actually I think this is the first page from Tom that almost only has
pictures and no text describing the pictures. Not a problem if you can view
the pictures, but since I cannot do that, and I know Tom has a lot of
knowledge I would really like to see an updated version of the page in the
future with more text comments describing the pictures.
Well anyway in my coffee life I hope both to travel to the US and visit the
SM shop and maybe also some time to visit a coffee farm, and get my hands on
some of these things.
Claus
