Topic: PNWG V Now June 16th NOT June 23rd (3 msgs / 119 lines)
1) From: miKe mcKoffee
Well the one of three founding PNWG cohorts who thought the 23rd was best
open date has been informed by she who must be obeyed that he has other
commitments that day, so now it is going to be Saturday June 16th.
And like I said the url I gave was for PNWG IV, last year's Gathering, not
this year's PNWG V. I gave the url simply to give general information on
what and where and type of stuff will be going on. Obviously the date of
June 24th 2006 is not for this year's PNW Gathering! I'll have an updated
page in a few days. Won't have time to work on it tomorrow 'cuz a someone is
bringing over their Anita for help dialing in shot temp management etc.
FWIW PNWG V menu will be different from PNWG IV, as it is every time I host!
But I'm leaning towards sort of a repeat, a variation of PNWG I dinner menu.
In other words doing another full blown Luau with a few differing menu
items, but obviously kalua pork would be featured:-)
The date will NOT be changed again! June 16th. The end. Fine.

She Who Must Be Obeyed (who is typing) thanks you, since the
Alchemist had already committed to going to the Black Sheep Gathering
on the same date as he arranged with you to begin with, but evidently
has a memory like a steel sieve for this sort of thing.
With your completely revised menu, is there any chance you'll still
make the coconut milk based jello like desert, which I love? And
could I put in an early request for decaf earl grey "road warrior"
drinks, although I'm afraid it defiles the image of your true road
warrior. :-) I really have enjoyed those, and somehow never seem to
have them made for me at home, despite the three espresso machines
now in residence here.
I'm looking forward to the PNWG V. Will Wandering John and Oaxaca
Charlie come? Will Tom and Maria and The Sprout make it? I know,
it's father's day weekend, like the first one -- that makes it tricky
for folks, but Wandering John managed that first year, cause a
handful of us had a Father's Day Brunch somewhere Sunday morning.

Hi Penny!,
You're welcome. Can't have a Pacific Northwest Gathering without an
Alchemist on hand and a Penny for our thoughts. Loved the steel sieve
analogy btw!
Funny, I almost mentioned haupia (that stiff Hawaiian coconut milk jello
like pudding) after the kalua pork but didn't think anyone would remember
it! Yes, I also consider haupia another Luau essential. Those coconut milk
soaked mac' nut topped baked Okinawa Purple Sweet Taters dish I invented
will also still be on the menu. (my option instead of traditional Luau
"purple" poi:-) Biggest menu change from PNWG I instead of my terriyaki
coconut milk marinated coconut crusted mesquite grilled shrimps (need to
come up with a short name for those things!) will be huli huli chicken
and/or kalbi beef. May also add lomi lomi Salmon and/or who knows what else.
Oh but one definite menu addition not on PNWG I menu that was a big hit at
another Luau party I hosted is Sesame-Ginger Sugar Snap Peas. (Master
Polynesian Chef Sam Choy's recipe)
Road Warrior wise do like you did for past PNWGs, bring your Earl Grey and
Goat's Milk and I'll fix you right up!
I'd be great if Tom & Maria could make it again but I doubt it with "The
Sprout" being but a seedling. Haven't heard from Wandering John in quite a
spell (he's obviously no longer participating on List), will shoot him and
his Beautiful Blond a personal invite. Oaxaca is still periodically posting
so we'll just have to wait and see!
Need to go grab some breakfast then clean up the kitchen so we can mess it
up really good again when Justin brings over his Anita to dial in this
afternoon:-)
