Topic: Noticed a few messages to the List lately that had pics embedded... (9 msgs / 222 lines)

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I've seen a couple of List messages lately that had some reference picture
embedded and was wondering how people are accomplishing it? I seem to
recall that the List will kick back messages that are over 18kb, so that
doesn't allow much room for an embedded picture. I played with this a
little this evening by taking a photo of my grill roaster and resizing it to
6kb. But when I embedded the pic in the email, the jpeg compression becomes
uncompressed and the total message size was back up to ~ 66K.
Just curious how some of you are getting a pic included?
Rick

Mine automatically embeds my system photo as long as I'm using my
mac.com account--Mail for OS X does this.

Sandy,
I haven't noticed the system photo you mentioned. What I have seen is a pic
of a product that the person is mentioning and it's embedded right into the
text area (not attached). The first time I noticed it, I thought
"huh.didn't think that could be done with the tight limits on message size
we have here".

Think I may have figured something out. If I use HTML format, and embed a
pic (of small file size ~ 6kb), this total message is 14KB and within size
limits. If I use Rich Text Format, this same message jumps to ~ 65kb.
Here's a test to see if the pic comes through,

Yep, you have figured it out. Generate the message as all html and it will work. That is unless Tom
sets Major Domo to strip out all html from all messages and convert it to ASCI, wich it is not set to do
now. Most mailing lists are setup to wipe out html and convert to ASCI. when this is done there is just
a blood spot where the image used to be.

OK, thanks.I use Outlook (or Lookout as it's also known) and the pic shows
up right inside the message.
