Topic: Steam leak on Gaggia Evolution (2 msgs / 89 lines)
1) From: Mejia, Carlos
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I posted this question on home-barista.com but haven't had any responses
so, I'm hoping maybe someone on this list might be able to help out. I
just purchased (for a song!) a Gaggia Evolution machine that needs some
work. After it warms up it has a steam leak from around the group head.
It's most pronounced when the steamer is turned on, with steam pouring
out of the group head quite a bit. I have a parts list with an exploded
view of all the parts. I'm guessing it's probably a gasket but I don't
know. The previous owner replaced the "main, large gasket" but when that
didn't fix the problem they decided they didn't want to mess with it
anymore. I'd like to determine what part(s) is needed and how to fix
it. Can anyone recommend a good resource for learning how to fix this
machine. I'd rather a DIY project than send it to someone and pay a
lot of $$.
any help will be GREATLY appreciated

Carlos,
This is the point where the DIYer opens it up to see what s/he
can find. That is half the fun.
