Converting to homeroasters (or specialty coffee) is probably as hard as
converting people away from Bud to homebrew or microbrews.  People like
their nasty ass king of beers for whatever reason.  It's American to drink
it I guess,
Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and...
   Starbucks =(
On a side note, I wonder why Ethiopia or whoever hasn't just said let's cut
out the middleman - let's set up shop in the US - we'll grow it, ship it,
hire roasters and sell a mess of it.  They could charge half of what 'bucks
charges and make a killing for the folks back home (it's a lot more Birr
than they are getting now).
ps my mother in law chose Folgers as her coffee of choice for one reason -
the little grip indentation on the side of the can makes it easy to hold -
she has arthritis.
