Topic: CS and vile "coffee" (2 msgs / 41 lines)
1) From: Brian Kamnetz
I think I have passed over into Coffee Snobdom. Until now, when the topic of
discussion wandered toward what "normal" people call coffee, I have smiled
paternalistically and let it go at that. But just now I was in the main
office, where the administrative assistant makes "coffee" in a Mr. Coffee.
This is a person who will never move to quality coffee; she determines which
coffee pot to buy by how it fits into the decor, and before she leaves for
the day she measures the preground coffee into the Mr. Coffee so that she is
already to brew up a pot of dreck as soon as she arrives in the morning.
Just a couple minutes ago I was looking through some paperwork, standing
next to the Mr. Coffee while it was brewing, and the odor emanating from the
"coffee" was so vile that it actually was making me sick and I had to leave
the office. I first asked her what kind of coffee she was using and she said
it is Walmart brand.

"...measures the preground coffee into the Mr. Coffee so that she is already
to brew up a pot of dreck"- and the pot's on a timer and filled with water
too. So, >click<, about the time the well- paid AA is pulling out of the
garage, Mr.C starts the brew cycle.
Even the archaic AT&T/ Lucent/ Avaya had a great cafeteria with fresh, hot
Cinnamon rolls, breakfast to order, and a little gourmet coffee line in the
lobby that morphed into an extra *$ brewer in the normal coffee line.
Ever seen the Dreck Shop pots with alternate layers of paper filters and
coffee grounds on top of the pot where the cups could be kept to absorb the
heat? That's what they have now- the large factory is now vacant.

Adam Smith's Invisible Hand can take the coffee out of ours...
