Folks, Someone recently asked about the Hottop and Gene Cafe. Well, I finally finished a product review on the Gene Cafe. It is posted on Homeroasters.org:http://www.homeroasters.org/php/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id6&thread_idG3#post_3555I tried to cover everything I could think of so it is a bit lengthy, but broken up with a few pictures. If there is something you would like to see covered, please let me know. I invite and welcome all comments, questions and requests. Hope this is helpful to someone ... Have a great weekend! Eddie, Fantastic review. I too have a Gene Cafe. I like your suggestion of "timing" the roaster as well as having a spare rbber bumper "just in case." Keep up the great reviews. Steve On 5/5/07, Eddie Dove wrote: <Snip>

Eddie Dove wrote: <Snip> Very informative! I would have liked to have read the experiences of someone with 400+ roasts under his belt before buying, but I bought anyway and have no regrets. I was wondering about that rubber bumper on the chaff paddle. I know very well how rubber behaves when exposed to heat. I'll be sure to buy spares now. As for the heating time, mine takes about 10 minutes to reach 482, but that's with beans. I'll try without soon. Exactly what temperature is being read by the display, and where is the sensor located?
David, Thank you for the compliment! With the drum removed, look into the exhaust port of the roaster. There is a probe there and I think that is where the temperature is read that is shown on the display ... I think.
