thanks Brett. he's a good guy, and a college student, so i had to
provide him with the best possible sub-$100 setup i could, and perfect
timing since i just bought the Carezza. he should be very happy with it,
as i was. still working on convincing him to go non-pressurized. now i'm
waiting for payday so i can get a PID for my new toy, and a new PF so i
can make the one i have bottomless. Eddie and any other Gaggia owners
out there, the Silvia steam wand mod was a cinch (although i haven't
actually steamed any milk, before or since the mod, it's nice to be able
to take the tip off and use the wand as a hot water spout-without hot
water splashing everywhere in the process-couldn't do that w/ the Gaggia
wand, even w/o the plastic tip).
back to the original topic, he just took home a sample of my first
attempt at a decaf blend (50% Brazil, 25% SM's (wet-processed) organic
WP Sidamo, 25% SM's Sumatra organic Gayoland). after seeing a vid of me
pulling a 50% crema shot (at the 2oz mark), he's nibbling at the bait
quite a bit. hopefully this will reel him in.
