I live in Chanhassen (southwest metro). I have been on the list for a few
years now and have had the pleasure of meeting up with Les on one of his
trips to town and with Barbara Greenspon and some other roasters a few other
times. Coffee roasters are very nice people. My lame home roast list
lurking brother Heath and I also roast together on occasion. It must be
over a year now since the last time we did a Minneapolis area roaster meet
up. Maybe the time has come for another. Jared

I'm up in Richfield. I know of another roaster, Todd Lamb. Don't know if
he's on the list. Sounds like we need to plan a meet!

Ollie and Sven went to the Minneapolis area roasters meeting because they
knew they could get some very good "Swedish Plasma." However they were
really upset at Jared because he had ordered a Pizza for the gathering.
When they walked in they both had shock on their faces when they saw the
Pizza. Ollie turned to Sven and asked, "Who puked on the Lefsa?"

Les, I really resemble that remark. So does your interest in this thread
mean we should plan something for a time you are going to be in town? Hint
hint. On a coffee roasting note I got to tour from Miguel Meza **of
Paradise roasters in Anoka Mn this week. They roasted for Peter Middlecamp
who is a new coffee shop owner in the area. Peter came out of nowhere to
get 6th place at the US barista championships. I just stopped in
unannounced and got a tour of his small roasting area. He pulled a bunch of
shots of the 6th place blend off of his La Marzocco and also gave me a cup
of coffee out of their Clover brewer. It was great to talk with him about
what it took to do well at the competition. Basically it seems to come down
to a lot of roasting experimentation on his part and a lot of practice on
Peter's part. They are a very nice group of people and I really appreciated
them dropping what they were doing to be so hospitable. It is exciting to
have national level coffee produced in the area that didn't come from my
West Bend popper. Jared

I think there has been a growing camaraderie between us homeroasters
and serious amateur baristas and the professional side. I know I sure don't
want to have the pressures they bring upon themselves either on the roasting
end or the pulling of shots for the public. I think they appreciate that we
are serious about our coffee and what to put pressure to continue the quest
for excellence.

Hi, everyone: I would love to meet again. It has indeed been a long
time.
I'm having some "pressure" problems with my Andreja Premium, but
still pulling some really good shots. I am looking for the time to
send the beauty away. Tom (husband) has been on the phone with Chris
and his people, and various things have been tried that make it
better, but not quite.
I know a couple of people who might be interested, too. When and
what are you thinking about?
Les, will you be coming through this summer? We would sure have
reason to pick a date that you could make!
Good to have this topic opened.

Me and my Isomac Tea would love to host however I am moving my family into
my mother in laws basement for the next few months until our new home is
done being built. So I am a bit homeless until August. Ideas to meet in
public include Kopplins in the Highland park area of Saint Paul because they
have a Clover brewer I am interested in seeing. Or in South St Paul there
is Blacksheep coffee where I could see if Peter Middlecamp would make us
some of his barista competition drinks. I know St. Paul is out of the way
for Bob and Barbara and me but I am willing to drive for a good coffee
experience. I can not do it this weekend, June 10 or July4-18 but am
otherwise pretty open. Jared

Why don't I gin up something away from those blackout dates. St. Paul
sounds fine to me and we can decide where.
Send me rsvp type stuff off list and we'll get it going. We'll even
allow the Iowa guys to come along [very big grin/ducking for cover].

Great, Brett. I was hoping you might.
And Bob, let's see if Les responds, so if he's coming, we can
possibly plan around that.

Given that I wasn't born in Minnesota, Saint Paul is never too far

people who agree, but you're right. For great coffee???

and time going to Glacier National Park in Montana. The Zass, Areo-Press
and French Press performed to perfection.

Below is a review of this list and my email to Peter. Since he will have a
Clover up by the end of June I think Sat. June 30 or Sun. July 1 seem to be
great dates. Although I haven't asked I bet he would be willing to grind
and brew coffee we have roasted in the Clover or on his espresso equipment.
Jared
Thanks Jared,
You pick the time and I'll be there.
We'll have a clover up by the end of June.
