Topic: Ramp rates to 1st? (2 msgs / 30 lines)
1) From: John Moody
From the drying phase (290F) to 1st crack (410F), I have been ramping at
40F/min. It seems that many go at 30F/min. From start of first to finish, I
take 6 minutes at a slow steady rise.
Anyone have comment about rates for this part of the profile? I'm using an
uber-modified P1. I posted to CG as well but have not had any response yet.

There is no best profile, do what suits your taste. I normally use 20 to 40F
per minute. But sometimes use an extremely fast ramp in a popper for
emphasizing brightness.
You may want to end your drying phase at 250 F. Try it and see if 250 makes
a difference.
