Went metal detecting today. Got on the road luckily only about a mile
or so before I remembered that I forgot the thermos of Kona I brewed up
to bring to share with one of the other guys I go detecting with.
Didn't want to leave it at home, since it was a nice Kona blend of
Thunder Mountain and Moki Farm 2005 and this one really is extreme Kona
flavor!! Turned around went back home, got the thermos then back on
the road for the beach.
Got there to find that someone parked in the area we normally park in
when we start out detecting. Didn't want to start walking through their
spot swinging our coils etc etc, so we moved about 100 feet down the
beach to start out at. Broke out my gear, got it tuned in, and not 10
feet from where I parked the car, .. BONG!!!. Nice clean clear signal.
my XLT is telling me this is silver or gold there. 5 inches deep I pop
up a 14Kt gold ring with a 3 carat diamond in it!
At first I didn't believe it was real, seeing the size of that rock, my
first thought was, umm ok, this gotta be a CZ cause there is no way in
hell Id be lucky enough to find something with a rock this big. Went
back to the car, hit the tester on it, and it's a real diamond.
I had to sit down for a few minutes and sip my perfectly brewed cup of
Kona while I looked at this thing under a louve. This will be a
memorial day I will remember for a while.
Great coffee, Great find on the beach, Honoring the men and women who
made this country great... It doesn't get any better than this.
Now lets see if I can figure out how to get the picture across. if not
ill post and supply a link.

How do you go about finding the owners of stuff like that, local police? I
seem to recall hearing that when you report it the owners have a year to
make a claim else it goes to the finder. I don't know if that's like, some
superbowl style manring or something a little closer to the heart like an
engagement ring, but if it's the latter I sure hope they find it. I know
they'll love you for it!
