Topic: FoodSaver: Leaks in bags develop over time (57 lines)
1) From: David Morgenlender
I remember seeing mention of FoodSaver vac bags losing vacuum every now &=
 then.
I've been using the FoodSaver rolls to make bags, mostly for green beans,=
 but
also for the occasional roasted beans headed for the freezer.
I had been experiencing the occasional loss of vacuum with the bags. But
recently I've been swamped with them. I came across a bag of roasted =
beans with
the problem, which is probably recent ... the bag had been in the freezer=
 for
1-2 months before any problem developed. A couple of days ago I was =
going
through my green beans stash to find some specific beans I wanted to =
roast. I
found many bags with the problem. In most cases I can't find the leak.
Sometimes it looks like a tiny crease has developed with a probably =
pinhole ...
I haven't tested to confirm these are the actual leaks. I only use =
FoodSaver
brand materials.
One of the rolls which came with the FS was so bad I couldn't use it. =
Since it
was my first attempt with the FS for awhile I figured I didn't know what =
I was
doing, but the problem was in fact the roll of plastic material (whether =
or not
I knew what I was doing :) ). The FS folks sent a replacement roll =
without any
argument, so no complaints with their service. I've since purchased many=
 FS
rolls from Amazon. I'm not sure which rolls resulted in problems.
Has anybody else run into this level of problem? Any suggestions for =
where to
go from here?
BTW, one of the problem bags was Kona ... so this is a serious problem!
