Topic: Roasted Bird Poo Coffee Today (2 msgs / 40 lines)
1) From: Tim TenClay
I roasted 1/2 of my bird-poo coffee today. It had an unusually
pungent smell just before reaching first crack and seemed to roast
quite a bit slower than the others I've done. Anyone else find that?
I hit 1st almost 2 minutes after I usually do and I'm not certain I
could have kept my Hottop from auto-ejecting if I wanted to push it
well into 2nd (which I didn't.) Stopped just before 2nd.
Also found it to be a very smoky roast... at least it seemed that way.
Any consensus on the best rest time yet? I'm thinking of roasting the
other 1/2 pound to bring to General Synod (our denomination's big get
together next week.)
Grace and Peace,
  `tim

Tim,
I didn't have issues with roasting mine like you did. It followed the
normal profile. !st crack wasn't as loud as some, but not unusually mute
either. I didn't get into 2nd crack at all. I found the best flavor after
a 3 day rest. It was great today as well, 6 days out.
