I'm proudly using a Westbend Poppery to roast my Sweetmarias beans with great success. However, the bottom inside of my Poppery is as black as coal and I'm wondering if it needs to be cleaned. But how? I don't want to ruin it. Would some kindhearted soul share the cleaning secrets of the Westbend Poppery? Thanks, Tim Hoke
Leave it alone . The deposits flavor the beans. Only clean it if it presents a fire hazard. Then use Oxyclean.
Tim, Barry is correct. Leave it alone. Even large commercial roasters are 'Seasoned' in order to develop that patina. Mike (just plain)
