Topic: An Ethiopian Coffee ... (3 msgs / 54 lines)

To quote Les, "Tom wants us to talk about coffee!"
In that vein, and knowing my disdain for some reviews an reviewers,
does anyone know about or have any experience with (including roasting
and cupping) the Ethiopia Biloya Special? All discussion welcome
including profiles, cupping notes, perspectives, opinions, etc.
Thanks in advance.

If I see "Ethiopia Biloya Special" on the SM Offering List, I'll know to
expect nothing less than Excellence. Any further discussion will involve
explaining what I did to it.

If you keep doing it the Old Way and want different results, How will it
happen?

I don't know if it's ok to mention names on this list, so I wont. This
coffee just received a 97 point rating on coffeereview.com, which is the
highest rating ever on coffeereview. As far as the cup goes, I have not
roasted it myself, but the coffee from this roaster was fantastic. I was
easily one of the best cups I have ever had. I brew in a French Press, and
didn't try it any other way, but that was enough. It was a very bright
fruity cup, but with a rich creamy finish. About day 5 after the roast the
fruit turned into a dark tasting, deep fruity wine, still with the creamy
finish.
Eddie, I know I used the coffeereview web site in my note, and I hope that
this wasn't why you included the line "disdain for some reviews and
reviewers," but if it is, I'm sorry about that. However, I can tell you
that this is a fantastic cup of coffee. I am not a huge fan of fruity/berry
coffees (I generally prefer chocolate-y) but this coffee was well balanced,
yet very pronounced. So although it is not my favorite coffee ever, it does
rank up there pretty high.

P.S - Eddie, if you roast some please let me know. contact me off list or
whatever. I would love to try some from a different roaster!
