Topic: Killer "post" PNWG V blend shot (6 msgs / 124 lines)
1) From: miKe mcKoffee
While continuing clean-up activities threw together a post Gathering blend
for a shot. Comprised approximately of 12.5% Aged Sumatra, 12.5% Aged "Old
Brown" Java, 35% Brazil Cachoeira Yellow Bourbon, 10% each Guatemala
Fraijanes Tibia, Costa Rica Dota Trarazu Conquistador, Ethiopia Harrar Lot
30 and Sumatra Blue Batak. First pull missed the grind guesstimate and ran a
tad fast 20 seconds. Tasted ok, actually pretty darned good, but new it
could sing better. Adjusted and pulled quite possibly my lifetime 3rd
GodShot, a simply Gorgeous 26 second 2oz 95% deep reddish brown crema pull,
creamy smooth as silk deep bitter sweet slightly smoky chocolates and
lightly bright fruity palate coating nectar. A linger that won't quit... Oh,
FWIW pulled at ~201.5 top of HX hump to ~200f level main shot. That is
indeed what the "dark side" is all about:-)

HHMMMMM!
I should have spirited a couple of handfulls of the, thought to be
extinct, Aged "Old Brown" before I ducked out. I'm jealous of the
'GodShot'.
BTW, every shot I quaffed yesterday/last night was pretty darned high
on the GodShot scale.
And again, my appreciation for and admiration of the PNWG V soiree.

Yeah, it will highly likely be quite a good spell before I have any really
exceptional 10 year old aged Indo again! That 96/97 crop aged to 2001 before
I got it from Tom Java was definitely something special. Back in '01 when I
first got it didn't really appreciate or understand it, sure do now! But it
was only a small element of the blend of exceptional coffees for that
shot:-) The head to head press pot "cupping" comparison of the Old Brown and
Aged Sumatra yesterday was definitely interesting. Hard to believe didn't
really detect any "bagginess" or other off tastes etc. in the 4 year origin
aged then 6 year vac sealed before roasting greens.
