Q. There have been a number of comments on malfunctioning Technivorm
coffee makers. Since I have toyed on and off with the idea of getting
one, could someone summarize the NEGATIVE features of the TV?
C . I too have a Spong grinder resurrected from stored stuff. It was
formerly a decorative item. Lovely little well made item that it is,
the fact that it produced the dreaded fines was a disappointment. Fines
are the bane of vacuum brewers too. Thanks for explaining the flaw in
the Spong grinder. Bernard C. Gerrard

The TechniVorm can brew excellent coffee. If your coffee is good enough for
you now, do not waste your money on any new equipment.
If you can brew satisfactory coffee already, the NEGATIVE feature is that
you might spend your money to no benefit. I know nothing at all about the
Spooge grinders. How do you grind right now?
If you have some sort of electric grinder and you want portable, just get a
generator and a can of gas. You'd have the first one on the block if you ge=
t
a Mahlkönig VTA 6 S and mount it on a trailer for mobility. Mount the
generator on the same trailer and you've got a real take-anywhere coffee
rig.
TechniVorms don't malfunction, operators do. It will cool off if it is
continually used with water that came from MASH 4077 or some other Pferde
Scheiße. If it starts running differently, start cleaning it out complete=
ly.
It's clean when it's new, and it ran perfectly, too.
Boil hydrant water in a pan, and the water leaves as steam vapor. Boil 10
pans full of fresh water in a pan and note the gunk that precipitates out i=
n
the pan. The heat element in a coffee maker is very small and has a very
high power density. The same gunk covers the smaller heater. Things begin t=
o
happen. NEGATIVES.
