Topic: OT: How's everyone doing? (3 msgs / 66 lines)
1) From: Rick Copple
Hey,
Though I would reactivate myself for a while and see what everyone's up
to, who's still roasting and toasting.
Been busy becoming a fiction writer, and have had some successes and
published some short stories and poems. May even have a small book
(about 16K) come out this year with a four chapter series of short stories.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'll hang for a while at least. :)

Hello Rick! Good to hear from you again!
I wondered how you were faring in the writing business. Glad to hear it is
going well. Also wondered how you managed through that 19-inch downpour the
other night?

Not too bad, overall. Most of the damage was along the creeks. We did
have some water in the garage, and did a little damage to some boxed
goods, but that was about it for us.
More bothersome is so many bridges are out or not passable that we had
to go the long way to get out of this part of the city. Today they just
opened up a more well traveled road, one of the low water bridges that
didn't get damaged (it is a cement bridge).
Then there is the water outage, which we got our water back yesterday
afternoon, and it just came back on at work this afternoon. We still
can't drink it straight though. But at least we can flush now! (without
having to haul in water in to do it.)
We actually received around 13 inches in the city proper. I believe the
19 inches was recorded about 6 miles ENE of us. A lot of water by
anyone's gage.
Now, if the new Yama had come today without being broken, I would be set
for the weekend and 4th. As it is, it will apparently be a another
couple weeks before I get to try it out. Oh well, if that is the worst I
have to deal with, I'm doing pretty good. :)
Thanks.
