Nothing to worry about - no more people, percentagewise, will roast their
own coffee than will make their own wine, beer, or soap. Convenience and
speed is the American way. Where we diverge from that is in the few places
we feel it's worth the extra time to do it right and coffee isn't treated
that way by most - it's a caffeine delivery system. Fresh baked bread is
one example of this - it couldn't be easier to dump a load of stuff in a box
and press a button and walk away, and yet you see these devices flooding
thrift stores. People won't even take the time to do THAT. When someone
invents the $50 device into which you dump 40-50g of greens, set a switch
and go to bed, and it will wake up, roast, grind, boil water, and drip, you
probably won't see a run on SM beans. So sleep easy ;)

Actually, it should be that you dump in beans, it roasts them, and puts them
into the resting bin (with a gassing-off vent). After 12 or 24 hours
(selectable time) the resting bin dumps into the grinding bin, from where
the beans are ground every morning before being brewed. And when the
grinding bin goes below a three-day supply of beans (selectable volume), a
light goes on to remind you to dump in more greens. :)
