Subject: Re: +OT I HATE Plumbing
After my flood earlier this year, I installed a leak detector and I have to
say that the peace of mind it gives me is worth much more than its cost. I
have the sensor sitting on a paper towel under my machine and it does work.
A couple of weeks ago, I removed the drip tray to clean it and dripped a few
drops of water. (less than 1/2 tsp.) While I was rinsing the tray, I heard
the valve close and the alarm sounded. The water had hit the corner of the
paper towel and wicked to the sensor which did its duty. I replaced the
paper towel and reset the valve and all was normal again. I feel confident
that I won't have a flood again, unless, of course, the line breaks before
the valve which is highly unlikely.
