Topic: finally ordered (6 msgs / 129 lines)

Wow, it has been about two and half weeks since I posted that I was
new this whole thing. Well, I did my research, made sure the
financial side of things were in order (not that starting out is
expensive, it isn't, but I had just come back from a month in Costa
Rica, where we have a home and needed to make sure that trip, where I
bought art work and new furniture for the home was paid for).
So, the order for roaster and beans are in, I did express delivery,
so I can be doing my first roasts by weeks end.
I want to take this moment to thank you for all of your sharing of
ideas and do's and don'ts to roasting. The main thing I have learned
is that I just have to go out there and start it. So, books read
have been put aside, I made a simple log (rather than complicate it
like I usually would do), cleared a space, and am just waiting for delivery.
Thank you and I will let you know how the first few batches turn out,
for it they turn out even halfway decent, I know I have many on this
list to thank.
All the best,
Stephen

Something which is "halfway good" is also "halfway bad".

I thought the same thing after I sent it. Why do I think I can't do
it correctly the first time? I am actually nervous, but I know how
to do this. Things will improve with what I learn from actually
doing it, but I shouldn't sell myself short. I ought to relax and
have fun - that is what part of this is all about, then enjoy the
fine coffee that comes with the first roast, followed by the finer
coffee from subsequent roasts.

some say the glass is half full,
some say the glass is half empty,
maybe the glass is just too damn big.
