Topic: Fwd: List, and Madison espresso (45 lines)
1) From: Brian Kamnetz
I communicated with Sandy (see email below) when the list was down.
I left Madison via Williamson Street and stopped at Escape Java Joint. I got
a bit nervous when the pierced girl behind the counter claimed to be "one of
the barristas" and knew nothing at all about coffee. Fortunately she was
overstating her role. I got both a brewed coffee and a double shot of
espresso. Unfortunately I was short on time and had to get both to go. They
were placed in paper cups with lids. Both were very good. I sipped on the
espresso for more than two hours, and even at room temp the espresso was
sweet and flavorful, without a trace of bitterness. Thanks for the
suggestion, Sandy!

I like the espresso at Escape Java Joint, 912 Williamson St., where I
usually play. I don't know of any shops that roast their own, though.
Mother Fool's up the street a bit (Ingersoll & Williamson) serves Alterra,
but their baristas aren't quite as skilled. In a pinch, there are Victor
Allen's shops all over town that are at least a cut above Starbucks and
Caribou.

Hi Sandy,
I'm sending this off-list; hope you don't mind.
Is the list up and running? I haven't received anything for a few days. I
sort of assumed that there might be a list problem that Tom would be able to
fix first thing this morning.
The reason I was interested in posting today is that I am visiting in
Madison WI. I know from your posts that you play here frequently and I was
wondering if you might be able to suggest a place for espresso.
Thanks for any help!
