Topic: Wax Crayons with Juice in them ... (10 msgs / 223 lines)
1) From: Eddie Dove
One of the batches that I am roasting today in the RK Drum is the
Sumatra Mandheling "Blue Batak". At one point during the roast, the
aroma was so sweet that it brought back, in a flash, a childhood
memory of those little wax crayons with the "juice" in them! I don't
remember what they were exactly or what they were called, but I
remember biting off the top to drink the "nectar". What a delightful
aroma, and great memory ... and great Indonesian coffee. Last roast
it had apricot ... I am really looking forward to cupping this one.
Just had to share ... back to roasting ...
Eddie

Nik-L-Nips. They came in a pack of five flavors (actually colors--
all just sugar water) and were shaped like flattened Coke bottles--5
cents a pack.

I couldn't remember the name, but man, I loved those - along with the penny
candy I used to get as a kid. I'd have just a nickel - if I was really rich,
my
mom gave me a whole dime (esp. after getting some two-fers).. would leave
with my little brown bag, and I'd ride my bike home in candy heaven.

Those are right up there with Necco! I'm not sure how healthy it was if you ended up swallowing the wax.
