Topic: tricolator coffee cones (2 msgs / 42 lines)
1) From: Bob Schaefer
Hi,
I was doing a web search for tricolator coffee makers and it led me to a
posting on home roast ("Chemex again" last June by John Ziman). In it he
wondered about the cool sounding name of tricolator.
Tricolator was a company in New Jersey that made the poor man's version of the
Chemex. They used plastic coffee cones, but unlike the Melitta style, they used
real paper filters folded in cones, not those stupid pressed together Melitta
filters that can burst and leak the filtrates. Sometime in the late 1980's
Tricolator was bought out by Mr. Coffe and the Tricolator product line was
discontinued.
They made a single coffee cup version of the cone that is the best single cup
coffee maker I have ever encountered. I have one stained and battered cone that
I keep for making coffee for myself.
If anyone knows where I could obtain any Tricolator coffee making equipment,
please let me know.
  Thanks,
    Bob Schaefer

Ebay seems to have a few items. Have you checked there?
