Ingrid,
I have a Mac also and I'm not seeing what you're talking about, except for the not-trimmed old posts. But that's a
cultural issue here, you just have to learn to ignore the 18 inches of old posts before you get to the current response.
Yahoo Group? OMG, there's nothing I've seen worse than Yahoo groups. I stay away from them anymore. Ten years ago they
were worthwhile, not anymore, just as I stay away from AOL after some bad experiences. Google also has groups and they
seem to be more user-friendly than Yahoo's.
What e-mail program are you using? I might suggest either Apple's Mail program or, my favorite, Eudora. I've heard
people complain about MS e-mail programs on the Mac so I've stayed away from them.
If you e-mail me directly I might be able to help more.

AAARGH! Have you tried snip-quote replying to a Yahoogroups post?
Nearly impossible without incorporating all the ad dreck and/or
having your sig line end up somewhere off to the top right.

Pretty simple, really. First and foremost, set your settings on the
Yahoo group to receive everything in plain text, no html emails. All the
ads get put into plain text at the bottom of the post. Then it is a
simple matter of putting your cursor at the beginning of it, hitting
Shift-Ctrl-End and then the Delete key. Done.
But that is through an email program. If you access them by web (which I
refuse to do) then the ads are a bigger problem.

What is causing these problems for the digest users is the way the various email programs treat and
compose messages. Some either format the message as EITHER plain text OR html while others do
both and only display the one you have selected. If you look at the entire message you will see that, if
your program will let you do this. These "double posts" will show up in the digest. This is another
real good reason to avoid digests. The easy way out of this for everyone, as we will not change each of
us to the same OS and email program, is to use a program like Thunderbird.
Web based email is not worth the hasssle either.
