Recently, the E-61 group on my Vetrano has developed a drip out of the =
relief hole in the bottom of the assembly. This is where water is =
supposed to exit to relieve the pressure after pulling a shot, but it =
keeps dripping and soon fills the drip tray. The only way to stop the =
drips is to turn off the water supply to the machine. I figure that the =
problem is in the upper valve on the head where the water enters as the =
drain valve is supposed to be open in the off position of the lever. I =
have removed the smaller top nut along with a small sleeve and the =
larger top nut with the spring and plunger. I don't see any debris in =
the assembly that would allow leakage. I cleaned up the assembly and =
lubed the O-ring with food grade lube so it would seat better and when I =
reassembled it, it actually leaked worse. It is not readily apparent =
how this valve works as the plunger fits loosely onto it and would not =
seal anything. Does anyone have any experience with trouble shooting =
this problem. I don't want to have to ship the machine back to Chris' =
again if I can avoid it. I have looked at HB, but the only things I can =
find are group gasket replacement and an explanation about how to take =
off the lever assembly and lube the cam. (I did that)
TIA
Mike Chester
