Topic: Decaf Recommendations Needed (5 msgs / 129 lines)

My teenage kids love my homeroast coffee, but like their sleep and refuse to drink anything but decaf in the evenings. Doesn't bother me a bit, but I do want to be a thoughtfull father...
(I'm asking for it here...)
What is the best SM decaf bean selection? (In your humble opinion, of course!)

I think I can answer this one,
There was a discussion about a week or so ago, you can see the results on
the archives at:http://themeyers.org/HomeRoast/Search for the word decaf
Then, click on the link for the first result.
Then, scroll down to #15, which was the original question of that particular
discussion. The answers are below that. There was quite a variety, but a
lot of folks liked the African Highlands decaf blend.
My personal favorite every day coffee is the Mexico Organic Oaxaca Decaf.
As with regular coffees, there is a large variety of decafs at SM, so your
best bet may be to buy a number of different beans and have the teenagers
try them. Another test may be to buy the decaf variety of a regular bean
that you like.
Good luck,

We discussed this a couple of weeks ago, and the consensus seemed to
be that they're all great. There are two in particular that seem to
be almost always in stock that are great standbys for me -- the Komodo
Blend and the Sumatra Tapanuli. These both take a wide range of
roasts, and at FC/FC+ are loved by almost everybody, as they are
fairly low acid. There are a number of other ones available right now
that are nice and bright, like the Africa Highlands blend, which would
be good if you're looking for something brighter.

Thanks for the info on the archived conversation last week. I lost the bubble when I was on travel last week and came home to almost 400 messages. Just deleted them rather than reading for hours...guess I should have browsed a bit more judiciously.
I'll check out the thread...

I'd answer that by asking what you are trying to accomplish. A coffee with bite? Smooth? Body? Great aftertaste? Funky? Chocolatey?
