Topic: Jura Capresso Impressa E8 and Gene Cafe (3 msgs / 95 lines)
1) From: Mike Rhoads
After tasting some coffee made with a Jura Capresso Impressa E8 in a store =
I bought one. It says it has a commercial grinder. It produces the best c=
offee I have ever tasted. Some time later after trying many different coff=
ee's I decided to give roasting a try. All my neighbor's come over for cof=
fee now and that is another problem. I have been reading this list for a c=
ouple of months since buying my roaster and don't remember ever reading any=
thing about this coffee pot. Does anyone on this list use the Gene Cafe to=
roast and/or the E8 to brew?

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
Mike,

You’ll have good luck with finding folks using the Gene Café. The =
Capresso
super-auto, on the other hand, will be looked on with some disdain by =
many
on this list, as there aren’t enough fiddly little things on it to =
play
with. A push-button crew we are not.

I’ve used a Capresso super-auto in an office setting, and they’re =
generally
pretty good, if you keep them clean (quite the process).

Also, you’re going to have to choose some name other than ‘Mike’, =
as there
are simply too many here. Hence my handle…

Nope - traded my C1000 up to an F9 but no E8. ;)
The Capressos work great with homeroast. Roast a couple of days
before you need it so the coffee can rest.
The only real problem is that you really can't do a 'clean'
transition from one coffee to another. You could run it completely
out of one bean and then put in the next one but there'd still be a
little overlap. Personally, I don't worry about it - a cafe crema is
just so good that I don't care that I could do better. The
difference in how good the coffee would be is much less than the
difference in work it takes to get there. I make myself a cappucino
every morning for 'breakfast' and then the ever-indulgent wife and I
have our coffees (cremas, technically) later. She also pulls hot
water to make Malt-o-Meal or instant oatmeal for her breakfast.
Very happy with the machine.
Oh - and I've been using my Gene Cafe for over a year now and am very
happy with it.
