Topic: somewhat OT: +Starbucks Recycling Blunder (27 lines)
1) From: stereoplegic
Brett: glad i read this before pulling my next shot. SPEW ALERT!!!
Sandy: right you are. if getting a brewed coffee (or iced tea) refill,
you pay just 50cents and tax, rather than just 10 cents off for bringing
your own cup. plus, customers can reuse the paper or plastic disposable
cups and get the same discounts.
Aaron: glad you followed the link you posted w/ "judge for yourselves"
for those who read the entire article, it's ironic that SOLO should
blast *$. i've heard countless green aprons (and a few black) lament the
poor QC standards of SOLO (yes, i still go to *$... if you had the
piss-poor selection of indy coffee shops Houston does, so would you at
some point or other) i've seen several leaky cups that came from stacks
of cups that seemed to be just fine. i've been saying that they should
fire SOLO for years.
back to the original subject of recycling, how many other coffee shops
(not as recognizable and therefore not worth attacking, 'cause at least
they're not guilty of being BIG) do the same damn thing?
and why aren't we blasting the recycling companies who won't take the
cups? see below (from the article... and kudos to you, Mr. Grossman.
that's how you get ahead: by leaving the status quo in your dust):
