Topic: Thrift store finds! (2 msgs / 57 lines)

Hi,
Went thrift store shopping today and found a Silex
vacuum brewer for $19, complete except for the
cover/syphon stand. I did a real quick test with some
pre-ground espresso that I have and it appears to
work, will the cloth filters for the Yama work on
this, I assume they will. I also found a 6-cup Chemex
brewer for $3, it has a black plastic collar, says
made in Germany on the bottom. I guess I need to
place a filter order with SM. Today was a good coffee
day!
Cheers,
David
Building a website is a piece of cake. Yahoo! Small Business gives you all the tools to get online.http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting

That's Haile Selassie of you, you would-be dumpster diver- Way to go!
What good is "says made in Germany on the bottom."? You'd dump it all
out just to read it!
How about shoot a picture of it when you're cleaning it.
English cars used to say "HRH Lucas, prince of Darkness," on the
bottom of the electrical stuff.
Use your new found good fortune to snag a couple of bread machines.
Oster, et al., make good coffee ROsters. Heat guns all make higher
than 450 F roasting temperature- don't get a hair dryer and try to
use it as a heat gun.
For roasting use, all the BM has to do is spin the (metal) paddle on
some sort of Dough or Manual cycle. Bigger and deeper is better, as
are round or square pan shape.
