As Brett posted last Sunday, we roasted a couple of small batches of the
Jamaican Blue Mountain gifted to me by a co-worker. Three days have passed
and I thought I'd post my thoughts on the (expensive) cup.
The JBM taste hasn't really changed from Brett's first report. Nice, but
muted, malted chocolate aroma. The 3-day rest really muted it. I struggle
to describe the taste. The lingering taste of tobacco is still there, and
is prevelent even as I drink the cup, but I can't describe this as a sweet
coffee. No other flavors stand out. It's very balanced, very smooth. The
three words that keep coming to mind are smooth, balanced, tobacco.
It's an extremely smooth cup, but I've had so many better coffees from my
latest 8-pack sampler from Sweet Maria's. A very expensive and kind gift,
but Tom made a good choice to not offer this bean this year. Just not worth
the extra expense.
