Expanding the vent a bit on the fixed side of the lid works well for the thermometer. The clip that would normally attach it to the side of a pot will hold it at an easy angle to read. I perpetrate liquid volume as green beans as well so ¾ of a cup more accurately describes the amount of beans I normally roast.
