To me, (and to my wife, who agrees with me on this) the taste of the
Liberica is at its best when lukewarm or even cool-everyone who has it
should let it cool in the cup and see how the flavor changes. The
blueberry becomes, if anything, even more overwhelming.
I also agree that the barnyard aspect is more in smell than taste, and
that the tastes changes after a few days. I personally love this coffee,
although I found I did not want it for every time I had coffee- it is
too extreme, too intense, to have 2 or 3 cups a day (which is what I
typically drink). I roasted a nice safe Tanzanian coffee to fill in the
gaps! (actually this was a far from safe coffee, but anything seems tame
after the most eccentric coffee I had ever had).
I want to try it out on some unsuspecting people-there is a group of
people who are always wrangling invitations to my house to get a cup of
coffee (like many of you, I found my coffee roasting to be a great way
to keep friends coming over). But they have never tasted anything like this!
I hope we can get it again...
