The new grain funnel I just got for my Mazzer Mini is great with a Zass =
too. I used to transfer the grinds from the Zass's clumsy square drawer =
to a bowl and then would spoon them carefully into the portafilter =
basket. I now pour the grinds directly from the drawer into the basket =
using the funnel - no mess, and the grinds stay fluffier until leveled =
and tamped. The grain funnel is far and away the best coffee toy I've =
gotten in a long time and one of the cheapest too.

I love mine too. But if you are searching for one look it up under =
canning funnel not grain funnel.

Interesting. I've usually poured from the square basket right into the
portafilter. I use a corner which acts as a type of funnel, and yes, I
do it over a trash can as some grinds will fall out. But that is minimal
and I'm going to level off some grinds into the trash can anyway.
I have a few funnels though, the one that came with the Aropress looks
like it could work for that purpose.

I end up losing a fair amount of the ground coffee when I try to pour the
grinds from the square drawer into the portafilter, even using the corner of
the drawer as a sort of funnel - I usually make a bit of a mess. I have the
knee grinder which has a long narrow drawer - if you have a Zass with a
square drawer, it may be easier to transfer the grinds.
The grain/canning funnel is a perfect fit for an E61 basket while the
Aeropress funnel is a bit too small. I keep the grain/canning funnel on my
Mazzer Mini in place of a hopper - it's a perfect fit there too. It's
stainless steel, so it looks almost like it came with the Mazzer. It's
great for funneling beans into the Mazzer, especially with a tamper (a cheap
metal one, not one of my Thors) as a weight on top. After catching the
grinds from the Mazzer in a small bowl, I use the grain/canning funnel to
transfer them into the portafilter basket. For the Zass, the grinds go
directly from the drawer to the portafilter via the grain/canning funnel.
Either way, the funnel makes getting the grinds evenly into the basket neat
and very easy.
