Yeeowch--just did a Google search (no link to Froogle anymore) for
"Livia 90 semiauto" and even the discount houses are selling it for
$1300+. (My 90A cost me only $1100--and it was selling for $1400
everywhere but the Illy pod-package deal back in 2005). I really did
make the right decision!

Sandy,
Maybe you can write a song, "The Livia is Dead", to the tune, "The
Humans are Dead" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?voi1MSGu64).

Sandy,
I've owned a Livia 90S for almost 3 years and never had any problems at all.
I bought it 'slightly used' about 9 mo old from Dennis Parnham ( who has not
posted here in awhile, either, since he moved to Florida) for 1K, and he
took meticulous care of it. Which maybe the reason that I've had zero
problems, good maintenance habits and no zippy spiffy computer boards that
have a tough time dealing with all the heat and moisture. You did the right
deal.
I was wondering if your repair shop had converted any of those auto's back
into semi's, that would seem to be the best coarse of action in my opinion.
Liv is a great machine :-)

Hmmm....I wonder if that might be applicable to a machine whose
electronics may have compromised other components to such an extent
that a conversion might not do any good or even be possible. Not
sure of how to convert the auto touchpad controls into simple on-off
switches, which at any rate would not be as robust as the original
mechanical rocker switches; retrofitting might require redrilling
the front cowling to replace the membrane touchpad with a single
rocker switch and un-aesthetically "patching" any leftover holes; it
might also not be cost-effective for them to do that (and the parts &
labor might end up costing as much as the differential I'm paying to
get a brand-new 90 S).
