Topic: Grinder cleaning tips (3 msgs / 57 lines)
1) From: David
Hi,
I just picked up a used Rancilio grinder, not sure
what model, it has 64mm burrs. It is really filthy,
don't think the previous owner cleaned it much, if
ever. There is a lot of coffee buildup on the burr
carriers, any tips on cleaning it? I am using a
plastic scraper but is slow going, would soaking it in
espresso machine cleaner be ok? Any other tips would
be most appreciated.
Thanks

Soak in Cafiza and use a denture brush to clean them. However it might also
pay to simply replace them. They are cheap enough and are only good for 100
lbs of coffee or so. Since you don't know how much coffee they ground and
are probably the originals I would replace them

David,
Run a bunch of Minute Rice through the grinder and let it do some of
the scouring. Then clean the rest ... Barry gives good advice and I
am with him on replacing the burrs.
