Ladies and Gentlemen, I moved from Little Rock, Arkansas to Falls Church, VA a few months ago. Prior to the move, I had paid little attention to posts about D.C. coffee. My bad. I've been a home roaster (HG/DB) for three years and just purchased my first espresso machine (Miss Silvia). I would love to meet the rest of you. Is there a regularly scheduled D.C.-area meeting? If not, let's make one. Saludos, John Crippen
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. John... Welcome to Virginia! I live in southeastern Virginia (Chesapeake) and can make it to the DC area in about 3 1/2 hours. There is no regularly scheduled DC area gathering. For two years we had a Mid Atlantic Gathering hosted by Tara in PA, but we have done nothing in 2007. Count me in for any Virginia/DC gathering might happen. I'm roasting primarily with an RK drum and occasionally with HG/DB. I've been using an Isomac Venus (about the same class as Silvia) for about 2-1/2 years. I can drag the RK & grill along to demo for people that haven't seen it in action. If other area homeroasters are interested in doing this, let's not wait till the weather turns to crapola - it's already mid October. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. Hi everyone, So far there are six of us interested in getting together and having a DC area meeting. If we are talking about meeting at a coffee shop somewhere and drinking espresso/coffee, then we can do it anytime it is convenient for everyone. Same goes if someone is going to host a gathering and we are just going to drink & eat & talk & play with coffee toys. If we are going to do roasting, then weather becomes a factor and from November until May weather in the DC area is unpredictable (usually good, but who knows?). It's already Oct. 19 and my guess is that if we are going to do something requiring us to be outdoors, we should plan on doing it sometime before Thanksgiving. What exactly do we want to do? Do we have a "volunteer" host? I would suggest Saturday, Nov. 3 with Saturday, Nov. 10 as an alternate date. Dennis, what is your underway schedule. Are you going to be around or will you be underway then? Jerry John Crippen wrote: <Snip>
November 10 works for me. I've got a roasting-demo (converting more newbies) on the 3rd. On 10/19/07, Jerry Procopio wrote: <Snip>

I would love to try to make it on any of the days. Even the possibility has this newbie brewing with excitement.
