Last weekend I did some clearing out of the closet where I keep my green =
beans and found a couple of vac sealed packages that had slipped out of =
sight, so I roasted them both. I only just realized what a bizarre pair =
of beans I roasted - the smallest and the largest beans in my stash. =
The first variety was Maui Moka which has the tiniest beans I have ever =
seen, less than half the size of an average bean. Given how old these =
beans were (4 years?), they held up remarkably well, probably because =
they were vac sealed and stored away from light and temperature =
extremes. I got them from another source as a gift ages ago - don't =
know if Tom ever carried any. The other bean is the largest I've ever =
roasted, Honduras Pacamara Santa Marta Estate from a couple of years =
ago. Side by side, these beans are a remarkable contrast in size - I'll =
see if I can get a picture while I still have some of each.
