Topic: behmor roaster--bean information (hey Tom) (3 msgs / 62 lines)
1) From: Vicki Smith
I just read Tom's brief description and the PDF files Joe Behmor
provided that will accompany the roaster. I'm impressed.
One of the things I liked about the manual, is that Joe has made profile
distinctions based on the kind of bean--soft, hard, low grown, high
grown etc. I remember that Tom made some of those same distinctions when
he wrote about IR2 profiles.
Since it is apparently helpful to know that kind of thing when making
roasting decisions, I wonder if Tom might be interested in including
that information in his reviews. I know that I can figure it out, at
least some of the time, but it sure would help to have it right there
for me to see.
I also wonder if Tom or Joe have anything to say about roasting decafs
in the Behmor. They sure do behave differently than high test.

We are still compiling all our roast curves and cupping notes,
hopefully getting some of it up tomorrow in a rather rough format. I
really am unsure about the roaster arrival date - there was talk of
them coming tomorrow and being ready to ship Monday, but I can't see
it happening. Either way, I have to hand it all off to Maria, Derek
and Josh because I am off to Yemen with my pal Duane for what
promises to be a great coffee trip. In any case, we have everything
ready to offer the Behmor, except the actual shipment. We figured it
out, and really we need less than a day to test the arrival shipment
versus our prototype tests. And despite what everybody and anybody
says, I know things can go wrong, and its nobodies fault (especially
not Mr Behm) - so I need to feel that what arrives is exactly what we
have tested because factories can mess up, and containers can get
smacked around. Hey, we're not drop-shippers here - we open up boxes
and test! -Tom
