Topic: cleaning Behmor glass (9 msgs / 127 lines)
1) From: Dave Ehrenkranz
After my 3rd roast (1/4 lb, 1/2 Lb, & 1/2 Lb) I came to the
conclusion the glass was getting foggy. I was surprised and pleased
how easily the glass cleaned only using a mild dish soap and water. I
suspect if one waits too long between cleanings the glass won't clean
as easily.
During my third roast I actually noticed some small pieces of chaff
flaring up. When roast was done (started 2nd crack) I noticed a small
fraction of the chaff had indeed burned but not all. The beans were
fine.

This is one of the reasons Joe recommends a cleaning burnout every
5th run. Both the glass and the interior surfaces also.

If it get to the more than foggy stage, and dish soap doesn't cut it,
try Simple Green. The stuff was apparently invented to clean out
coffee roasters.

I've got a different problem ... some glue from the stickers was left on =
the
outside of the roaster. I've tried the more mild approaches (water with
dishwashing liquid, vegetable oil) & made a lot of progress. But a small=
 amount
of the glue has been too stubborn. Does anybody know whether alcohol or =
Goo
Gone is safe to use without damaging the finish?

Išve also found that sprinkling the goo with baby powder, putting some
Scotch tape over it and then ripping the tape off quickly (those of us
whošve ever had our eyebrows waxed will know what Išm talking about re the
latter) works pretty well‹Išve done it for price sticker residue on glass o=
